Day 142

**Spelling Bee information and lists have been sent home. Please have students practice with the provided lists.**
We are excited to let you know that our Arts' Night performances this year will be held at The City Church auditorium located on Argentina road, just a 3 minute drive from the school. With this new venue, we have extra lighting, surround sound, a larger and higher stage, more seating, and much more! My grade 1 class will be wearing wedding attire if possible (tuxedo or black dress pants and white dress shirt for boys (tie) and dresses for girls)



Grade 6 Exhibition, the culminating project for PYP students, is just around the corner. This year the Grade 6 Exhibition will be taking place on Friday, May 4. Their will be two different viewings; 9-11 AM and 6-8 PM. We invite all to join! Please see invitation below for more details.


St. Jude’s FC A new and exciting soccer program has arrived at SJA. St. Jude’s FC is the official soccer academy affiliated with SJA, which is currently taking applicants for its inaugural season. St. Jude's FC will be playing against the best REP teams around the area. Do not miss the opportunity to sign your child up to not only play against the best, but be coached by the best as well.  Please see flyer sent home for further information. If you are interested in joining, please fill out the flyer and send into Ms. Dawn. Let’s go St. Jude’s FC!!


A note from Ms. Bancud: You are now able to order for May Lunches. The deadline for May lunches is Saturday, April 28th, 2018.  After this date, our system closes and is unable to open for April ordering.  Please make sure your child is under the correct grade. http://mydigitalmailroom.com/sja  
All payments are due on Friday, May 4th, 2018.

A group of Grade 6’s are promoting Meatless Mondays for their Exhibition project. They have come up with this month's special, which is Crispy Cauliflower Bites for $4.50 with a side of tzatziki dip that will be available every Monday! You will find more information about Meatless Mondays around the school.

Payment Instructions

  • There are two options to pay for lunches. Cash and Freshbooks. 
    • Shortly after completing your order, a Freshbooks invoice will be sent to your email.
    • It may take one or two days to process your order to Freshbooks, so please be check your email diligently for the invoice.  
  • We no longer accept cheque as a method of payment.

A note from our MYP Shakespeare Performers: On Thursday, May 10th, we would like to invite to our SJA parents and guardians to attend our upper school theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet being hosted at the University of Toronto Mississauga MiST Theatre (3359 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, ON L5L 1C6) for FREE! The performance will begin at 6:30pm. For your enjoyment, SJA PYP teachers will be hosting a FREE SJA dance in the SJA auditorium for your children, so you can sit back and relax. The dance drop off will begin at 6:00pm.


To reserve your tickets for the dance and the theatre performance, please e-mail Kaitlin at reception@stjudesacademy.com. Limited tickets are available and are available on a first-come first-served basis.

UOI with language focus- Today we practiced some of the words for the spelling bee.

Math- Students were introduced to symmetry. They looked at different figures and objects to determine whether or not they have a line or lines of symmetry. Students were also given have figures and had to draw the figure to make it whole.










Unit of InquiryToday students were introduced to their last novel study, 'Afternoon on the Amazon'. We discussed animals from the rainforest, read the back of the book and students had to draw a picture of what they thought the cover of the book might look like.
