Day 69

Important dates/items:


Tuesday, December 18 – Grade 3-8 Christmas concert 
Wednesday, December 19 –  Superstore trip, Casual day & bake sale
Thursday, December 20 – Christmas Spirit day, bake sale and last day of school before the Christmas break

Re-registrations packages have been sent home. All completed forms are due back no later than February 11, 2019, in order to save your spot. 

The lunch site is now open for January hot lunch orders. All orders are due by Wednesday, December 19th at 3:00 PM. The site will close after 3:00 and will not re-open. The special this month is French toast. Please be sure to order under the correct grade and teacher.

Agenda- Read 15 minutes a day, get spelling test signed, trip Wednesday, cursive book pages 82, 83

Math Students completed addition problems using carrying. They also created their own addition story.



UOI with language focus- Spelling test


Unit of Inquiry- Today students thought about a store name and created their own store layout. They cut out items and organized the items into 4 sections. 





Today we had reading buddies. We read to Ms. Bannon's SK class.

Math Today we wrote down the rules of subtracting in columns and rules when borrowing. We completed problems on the white board, then completed a worksheet together following the proper steps.


UOI with language focus- Students thought about what they would do if they were trapped in a snow globe. They had a chance to brainstorm ideas, then started their rough copy. They will be completing a good copy tomorrow.

Day 67

Agenda- Read 15 minutes, review spelling test Friday, detailed spelling sentences due Friday (pick any 10)
Math Today students were introduced to subtracting double digit numbers in columns. They were also introduced to borrowing. We completed some subtraction problems as a class. Then students completed addition problems using carrying.

UOI with language focus- Students completed activities from their spelling workout books to review for the test Friday.




Unit of Inquiry- Today students cut out pieces of clothing from flyers. They thought about how they would organize a dresser with the clothing they cut out. Lastly they labelled and glued the cut-outs on the appropriate shelves.

Today we had a visitor to teach the grade 1's about coding. Thank you Sherief for the enjoyable morning. The children really enjoyed it.

Parent Guild is hosting a Christmas Skate at Meadowvale 4-Rinks on Thursday, December 20th, from 3:30-5:30 PM. The cost is $10/student, but free for parents. Hot chocolate will be served and the big guy will be in attendance for pictures. What a fun way to start the holidays. Order forms have been sent home and the deadline to return them is Monday, December 10th

Math Today we went over the rules for adding double digits numbers in columns. We discussed when we need to carry the 10's column. We looked at different word problems and students made their on addition problems to solve.

Unit of Inquiry- Students finished their refrigerators. They organized the shelves and labelled what would go into each section.
